PROBIOTICS ARE GOOD

...My friend pointed out that each time he was on antibiotics, the bacteria in his digestive system was destroyed. His little body had to rebuild the bacteria to be able to digest his food successfully. She suggested giving him some acidophilus, which was familiar to me in the form of yogurt. Since my son could not eat yogurt, because it is a dairy product, I began my search for dairy-free acidophilus.

That evening I did some research on acidophilus on the Internet. I learned something very interesting. Specifically, acidophilus might also help with my son’s food allergies. I was thrilled. I felt that I had made an incredible discovery and had new hope for my son’s ability to outgrow his food allergies and be healthier. The next day I called our allergist and asked her what she thought about the topic. She said that there have been some studies that have show that acidophilus might help the digestive system mature, thereby improving a child’s ability to outgrow food allergies but it wasn’t a cure. She said there were no real risks to giving him the acidophilus except to be sure that it was not derived from a dairy source...

... My husband and I noticed some amazing results within about one week. For the first time in his life, my son said he was hungry...In addition to the results of his learning to say that he was hungry and his improved behavior, we found he was not getting sick...Then, on the probiotics, he gained five pounds from age three to four and grew four and one-half inches in height. Now he is back to fiftieth percentile for height and about thirty to fortieth percentile for weight...
